- Parents in South Mugirango have lauded MP Silvanus Osoro for supporting needy students through his Osoro Care Club initiative.
- Kereri Girls High School Principal Tabitha Mogonchi has said many bright girls from humble backgrounds have accessed quality education and joined university through the program.
- The initiative has vetted learners through chiefs, church leaders and headteachers and has supported them from secondary school to college level.
Parents from South Mugirango Constituency have lauded the area Member of Parliament, Hon. Silvanus Osoro Onyiego, for assisting many students from the area to continue with secondary school education through his Osoro Care Club.
Speaking in separate interviews in Etago and Nyamarambe, the parents said the initiative has helped thousands of learners from the region who would have otherwise dropped out due to lack of school fees.
According to the parents, the Osoro Care Club identifies bright but needy students, orphans and learners from poor backgrounds across Etago and Gucha South Sub-Counties. The beneficiaries are vetted through chiefs, church leaders and headteachers and are supported through secondary school up to college and university level.
Kereri Girls High School Principal Tabitha Mogonchi is among the education stakeholders who have appreciated the MP’s effort.

Mogonchi said many bright students from poor homes had gained access to Kereri Girls High School through the Osoro Care funds and had gone on to perform well in KCSE.
“As Kereri Girls, we have received many girls from South Mugirango through this program. These are very bright girls from humble families who would have otherwise dropped out in Form One. Through Osoro Care, they have accessed quality education, remained disciplined, and many have joined universities. I want to thank Hon. Osoro and ask him to continue with the good heart to touch many of such cases,” said Mogonchi.
Commenting on the initiative, Osoro said he sacrificed funds from his personal pocket to support education because it has a long-term impact compared to political handouts.

“I decided to sacrifice from my personal pocket because education touches a home forever. A political handout ends in a day, but when you educate one child, you change an entire family and the whole village. That is why I chose Osoro Care,” Osoro said.
Parents said the program has reduced school dropouts, early marriages and cases of boys dropping out to join the boda boda sector due to lack of fees.
