- The selected players will now compete for places in the final Harambee Junior Stars squad.
Five players from reigning Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) national soccer champions Kakamega High School have earned call-ups to the Harambee Junior Stars Under-20 national team camp.
The selected players are Ferdinand Isaac, Eugene Beleti, Julius “Agwambo” Ochieng, Edison Bwire and George “Alonso” Omondi, who are expected to link up with the national team at Kabarak University as preparations get underway.
The call-ups cap a remarkable season for Kakamega High School, popularly known as the Green Commandos, after the school was crowned KSSSA national soccer champion, securing a historic 15th national title and further cementing its position as one of the most successful school football programmes in Kenya. The Green Commandos subsequently represented Kenya at the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) Games in Morogoro, Tanzania, gaining valuable regional exposure and experience.

The selection of the five players to the Under-20 national team is a major boost for the school and highlights the quality of talent within its football programme. The opportunity will provide the youngsters with a platform to train alongside some of the country’s best emerging talents, compete at a higher level and push for places in the final Harambee Junior Stars squad.
Ferdinand, Beleti, Ochieng, Bwire and Omondi will now be hoping to impress the technical bench and carry the Green Commandos’ winning spirit into the national team setup.
