Kebirigo Boys High School Chief Principal Clement Nyang’acha hosted 15 comprehensive school principals from Nyamache Sub-county for a benchmarking and consultative meeting.
The principals have resolved to hold regular consultative meetings, create a joint professional development platform and jointly present their challenges to the Ministry of Education and TSC
Kebirigo Boys High School in Nyamira County Chief Principal Clement Nyang’acha on Thursday hosted 15 principals of Comprehensive Schools from his Nyamache home Sub-county at his school for a benchmarking and consultative meeting.
Led by their Kisii County Kenya Comprehensive Schools Heads Association (KECSHA) Chairman Haron Ntabo, the principals said their visit was aimed at sharing experiences and learning best practices in school leadership and education development from the senior school. “We came here to meet as friends and share the common goals of our academic profession and leadership to enable us lead our schools and staff with the surrounding communities successfully,” said Ntabo.
Nyang’acha welcomed the team and took them through the school’s management systems, academic programmes, discipline structures and infrastructure development. He said such peer learning forums are important in strengthening the transition from comprehensive to senior school under Competency-Based Education (CBE).

The principals discussed challenges facing comprehensive schools, including infrastructure gaps, staffing, capitation delays and learner transition, and agreed to hold such meetings frequently to gauge the way forward for their schools. Ntabo said frequent consultative meetings will help them harmonise academic targets, share resources, address discipline and guidance and counselling issues, and engage parents and communities more effectively.
They also resolved to create a joint platform for continuous professional development, benchmarking visits on a rotational basis and collective presentation of their challenges to the Ministry of Education and the Teachers Service Commission.

In response to the principals’ request for him to visit their schools at appointed times to share with other teachers and Board of Management committees, Nyang’acha promised to visit the schools as he has done before. He asked the principals to be models of their schools and to better them by consolidating available resources, including human resources, to take their schools to the next level, adding that learning institutions that have succeeded started somewhere in a small way under focused and determined leadership. He thanked the principals for choosing Kebirigo Boys as a learning centre and pledged continued collaboration between senior schools and comprehensive schools for the success of learners.
