Basic Education Principal Secretary John Ololtuaa has held talks with national officials of the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), in an engagement focused on key issues affecting the teaching profession and the education sector.
The meeting provided an opportunity for constructive dialogue and strengthened collaboration between the government and teachers’ representatives, covering measures to improve education delivery.

Ololtuaa appreciated the union officials for their cordial engagement and reaffirmed the importance of continued cooperation in advancing teachers’ welfare and quality education across Kenya.
The engagement comes against the backdrop of unresolved grievances the union has been raising in recent weeks, including concerns over the Social Health Authority (SHA) medical cover for teachers, with some KUPPET branches citing capping of services, delayed authorisations and system failures. KUPPET had earlier issued the Government a one-month ultimatum over the matter, which has since lapsed, with the union’s National Governing Council expected to determine its next course of action.
