The Ministry of Education (MoE) has issued fresh guidance to schools that have already been approved on the Kenya Education Management Information System (KEMIS) but are yet to receive the final email required to complete student registration.
In the advisory directed to teachers, principals, ICT teachers and KEMIS assistants, the ministry outlined steps that affected schools should follow to regain access to the system and proceed with learner registration.
Schools have been instructed to log in using the email address that was initially used during the registration process. Where the system indicates that the email address is already in use, users are advised to select the “Forgot Email” option.
The ministry explained that the system will automatically generate and display an alternative email address linked to the institution’s account.
Schools can then update the generated address to a more convenient one and use the new credentials to access the platform and register students.

The guidance is expected to help institutions that have been experiencing difficulties accessing their KEMIS accounts despite receiving approval from the ministry.
School administrators have also been encouraged to test the procedure and report any challenges encountered for further technical support and assistance.
KEMIS is a key digital platform being rolled out by the Ministry of Education to enhance the management of learner data, school records and education services across the country.
The ministry has urged schools to complete the registration process to ensure accurate learner records are captured in the system.
