Kabete National Polytechnic (KNP), ranked among Kenya’s leading Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, will host its 4th International Research Conference, Skills Competition, Innovation and Career Expo from June 17 to 19, 2026.

The event comes as Kenya’s TVET sector continues to position technical and vocational training as a key driver of economic growth, innovation and job creation.

Focus on Skills and Employability

The three-day conference, themed “Transforming TVET in Kenya for market-ready skills, employability and sustainable development,” will bring together researchers, innovators, industry experts and learners.

Participants will engage in research presentations, skills competitions, innovation exhibitions and career development sessions aimed at strengthening linkages between training institutions and industry.

Hybrid Participation Model

The conference will be conducted in a hybrid format, allowing participants to attend either physically or virtually.

Registration fees have been set at KSh 3,000 for local online participants and KSh 5,000 for those attending physically.

International and diaspora participants will pay USD 60 for online participation and USD 120 for physical attendance.

Call for Research Papers

Researchers interested in presenting at the conference have been invited to submit abstracts of between 200 and 250 words.

Full papers comprising original and unpublished research articles, reviews and case studies of between 3,000 and 5,000 words will also be required.

All submissions should be sent through the institution’s research office via research@kabetepoly.ac.ke.

Key Conference Themes

The conference will focus on several thematic areas, including technology-driven TVET transformation, industry-academia linkages and the future of work, Agri-TVET and food security innovation, green skills and renewable energy, and other cross-cutting issues affecting the TVET sector.

Participants interested in the skills competition will pay KSh 5,000, while exhibitors showcasing innovations will pay KSh 10,000.

The organisers say the event will provide a platform for showcasing practical solutions, emerging technologies and innovative ideas that can enhance skills development and productivity.
