Residents of Emurua Dikirr Constituency are celebrating a major educational milestone following plans to establish a new university in the area, a development expected to significantly expand access to higher education and stimulate local economic growth.
According to the proposed arrangement, the university will be established at the current Simotwet High School site.
To facilitate the project, Simotwet High School will be relocated to the present Takitech Secondary School, while Simotwet Comprehensive School will be moved to Taachasis School.
The reorganization is expected to pave the way for the consolidation of the two sites to host the new institution.
The first intake of students is expected in September, marking a significant step in the constituency’s educational development.
Leaders back the initiative
Local leaders, professionals, and members of the Ololmaasani Council of Elders have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a transformative project that will create new opportunities for local youth and strengthen the region’s academic profile.
They noted that the establishment of the university is expected to generate employment opportunities, attract investment, and boost small and medium-sized enterprises in surrounding trading centres.
Stakeholder support
The project has also received strong backing from key leaders and stakeholders.
Among those recognized for their support are Emurua Dikirr MP David Keter Dollarline, Narok Deputy Governor Kiprono Koech Tamalinye, and Ololmasani MCA Bomori Kipkoech Arap Tembur.
