Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya has placed strong emphasis on agricultural education and skills development after presiding over the Trans-Nzoia County Exhibition, where Technology Innovation Management Practices (TIMPs) and farmer training programmes took centre stage.

The event, held in Trans-Nzoia County, brought together farmers, agricultural trainers, and innovators in a learning-focused forum aimed at strengthening knowledge transfer and promoting practical agricultural education at the grassroots level.

A key milestone of the exhibition was the official launch of the Farmers Field and Business School initiative, a structured training programme designed to equip farmers with hands-on skills in modern farming techniques, agribusiness management, and value addition.

Speaking during the event, Governor Natembeya said the initiative will serve as a practical learning platform where farmers can gain field-based education, interact with experts, and adopt modern, climate-smart agricultural practices that improve productivity and income.

He further noted that the integration of TIMPs into farmer training is intended to strengthen agricultural extension education, bridging the gap between research institutions and rural farming communities.

The county boss added that the programme aligns with its broader agenda of expanding access to agricultural knowledge, promoting lifelong learning in farming communities, and empowering youth through agribusiness education.

Education and agriculture stakeholders present welcomed the initiative, terming it a timely step toward strengthening practical skills development and positioning agriculture as a structured learning and entrepreneurship pathway in the county.
