Busia County Government is set to formalize a partnership with the Jiajiri Digital Hub in a strategic push to expand youth access to digital skills training and strengthen innovation-driven learning across the county.
The youth-led initiative, established in 2024, operates in Matayos and Teso North sub-counties, where it has been training young people in freelancing, content creation, and basic technology skills aimed at improving employability in the digital economy.
Busia Deputy Governor Arthur Odera, who visited the hub, praised the initiative’s growing impact at community level, describing it as a key driver of youth empowerment through practical digital education. He encouraged the team behind the hub to scale up their efforts in order to reach more learners.

The proposed collaboration is expected to complement ongoing county programmes implemented with development partners, which focus on digital entrepreneurship and skills development for residents.
According to county officials, the partnership seeks to integrate grassroots innovation spaces into structured county education and training frameworks, with a focus on bridging the digital divide among young people.
The initiative reflects a growing emphasis on digital literacy as a critical pathway to economic opportunity, particularly for youth seeking entry into online work and technology-based careers.
