Namelok Girls Secondary School in Kajiado West received a major infrastructure boost on February 14 after State House Comptroller Katoo Ole Metito handed over a brand-new school bus to the institution.

The event was attended by Kajiado West MP George Sunkuyia, whose office facilitated part of the development through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF).

The new bus is expected to address long-standing transport challenges at the school. It will support students’ participation in academic trips, sports competitions and other co-curricular activities while ensuring safe and reliable travel.

Speaking during the ceremony, Metito said that investing in girls’ education strengthens families and transforms communities, noting that access to proper facilities plays a critical role in academic success.

The event also saw the official launch of a modern dining hall with a seating capacity of 600 students. The spacious facility is designed to accommodate a large number of learners at once, easing congestion that previously forced students to eat in shifts or in overcrowded spaces.

The dining hall features an expanded kitchen area, improved food storage sections and better ventilation to enhance hygiene and comfort. School administrators said the new structure will streamline meal service, save time and allow students to return to class promptly.

MP Sunkuyia said the NG-CDF remains focused on strengthening learning institutions across Kajiado West by investing in infrastructure that directly improves student welfare.

Metito reiterated his commitment to supporting initiatives that create a conducive learning environment, describing education as the greatest equaliser and a key driver of opportunity for girls in Kajiado West.
