St.Peter’s Mumias,Kinale girls win 2025 KSSSA National term 2 rugby 7s titles

St. Peter’s Mumias and Kinale Girls have been crowned champions of the 2025 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association, (KSSSA) National Rugby Sevens Championships after winning their respective finals in Kakamega on Friday.

St Peter’s Mumias lifted the boys’ title following a hard-fought 14-12 victory over Koyonzo Boys. The two sides went into halftime tied at 7-7 after a tense and balanced first half. In the second half, St Peter’s scored a converted try to take a 14-7 lead.

Although Koyonzo responded with a try of their own, a missed conversion saw Saint Peter’s hold on to win by two points and secure national glory.

In the girls’ final, Kinale Girls delivered a dominant performance to defeat St Joseph’s Kitale 19-5. Kinale controlled the match from the onset, scoring three tries and converting two. St.Joseph’s managed a late consolation try, but it was not enough to stop Kinale from clinching their first national sevens title.

In the boys’ bronze medal match, Bungoma High School secured a podium finish after defeating Bwake Boys 7-0. Bungoma scored a single converted try and maintained strong defensive discipline to seal third place.

Meanwhile, in the girls’ bronze final, Saint Theresa produced a commanding display to beat Paul Harris 19-0. The win was built on three tries and two conversions, with Saint Theresa also keeping a clean sheet to claim third place.

The 2025 National Rugby Sevens showcased outstanding school rugby talent from across the country.
