Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Baringo branch has vowed to join their peers nationwide in street demonstrations to pursue their demands.

Led by their officials, the teachers asserted that they will not relent until the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) addresses all their demands.

Branch Executive Secretary Zacharia Nyomboi and Chairman David Kibet, who led teachers in Kabarnet town and later stormed the region education offices, said that they will not bow to pressure until the grievances are heard.

Nyomboi told Education News that teachers will not down their tools until their demands among them scrapping of medical covers and Career Progression Guidelines (CPG) review.

“We want to categorically tell the government and TSC that even as teachers continue their strike, they should be paid their August salary nonetheless,” he said.

He claimed that TSC was slacking on its job to boost their morale by advocating for teachers’ rights and urged it to respect its independence.

Chairman Kibet said that teachers were a desperate lot due to stagnation in one job group for long rendering them unable to meet their families’ demands.
