The Governor of Bungoma Kenneth Lusaka has decried the escalating issue of teenage pregnancies among school-going girls in the County warning that it will no longer be tolerated.

Speaking during Mashujaa Day Celebrations at Ndivisi Primary School grounds in Webuye East Constituency, Lusaka cautioned that those responsible would face the full weight of the law.

“It is disheartening to learn of the increasing numbers of teenage mothers, particularly among school-age children. Those found guilty will face the consequences,” he affirmed.

The Governor further implored parents to fulfill their responsibilities, urging them to exercise vigilance during school holidays.

Additionally, he pressed education authorities to investigate a well-known school in Bungoma, which has recently become a hotbed for teenage pregnancies in the entire county.

Lusaka also pledged to support schools affected by the ongoing El Niño rains with infrastructure development and other essential resources for candidates sitting for the final national examinations, namely KCPE and KCSE.

These sentiments were mirrored by Bungoma County Deputy Governor, Jennipher Mbatiany, and County Commissioner, Thomas Sankei.
