First year student crowned Miss Teso South 2023

A first year student at Okame Technical Training Institute, Winnie Asere , has been crowned this year’s Miss Teso South in a recently held pageant.

The 27-year old Asere whopped 12 other contestants in a tightly contested event by establishing herself as the judge’s favourite with her expressiveness flavoured with her beauty.

She will be joined by Frasia Kinyanjui, 21, from Alupe University doing physiotherapy who came second from Teso South sub county to battle it out with other beauty queens from the county’s 6 sub-counties for Miss Busia 2023 pageant set to take place on June 30, 2023 at Boarder Palace.

Speaking after being announced as the sub-county champion, Asere said that she is eyeing to represent the county at the national level.

“My target is to represent Busia at the national level. I have learnt that the best thing you can do for yourself is to maintain a healthy mental and emotional lifestyle,” Asere said.

Cynthia Dayo and Joan Amojong will represent Teso North sub-county; and Faith Amina Aporong, 23, a graduate from Kabianga University and Diana Issa, 25, will represent Butula sub-county at the county finals.

Dayo, 22, and Amojong, 23, won the hearts of the judges in the contest with their intellect and grasp of current issues.

Faith Amina Aporong, 23, a graduate from Kabianga University, and Diana Issa, 25, will represent Butula sub-county.

Tourism Acting Director Charles Juma said that Miss Tourism is all about showcasing talents among youths and leveraging on the same to eke a living.
