Bonchari Member of Parliament, Dr. Charles Onchoke, has revealed that his office will partner with other education stakeholders to support education development in the area. The MP made the revelations as 9,200 students from the area benefitted from the Bonchari Constituency NG-CDF education kitty.
The MP was speaking at the local NG-CDF office on Thursday when he released cheques worth Sh.40 million towards the education of bright students from poor homes.
He said that there were many students who applied for the Education Bursary Fund but regretted that there were inadequate funds to satisfy all the applicants.
“If you did not receive any funding this time please remain hopeful to get it in the next disbursement because there is a future for those who are hopeful,” he said.
He decried the increasing rate of poverty in the region and attributed it to the population that competes on land resources that never increases as the population multiplies.
The legislator revealed that his office released Sh.90 million towards the completion of Suneka airstrip.
Onchoke said that if the airstrip will be ready it will assist in the creation of job opportunities.
”Our region is rich in farm products like horticulture that that will be transported easily to the outside markets to fetch wealth,” he said.
He asked all parents to take their children to school to equip them with skills that will enable them to survive in the ever changing world of technological advancement.
He promised to build a modern Technical and Vocational Training Institute to in the Constituency to help the youth who did not qualify to join university, asking those who did not attain university entry marks not shy off from joining local Technical Training Institutes to acquire skills required for employment.
The MP who was flanked by his NG -CDF committee members took the opportunity to condemn marriages between people of the sane gender. He said he will join other legislators to oppose it in parliament.
