Seven pupils have been confirmed dead and over 59 others injured after classrooms collapsed on them at Precious Talent School in Dagorreti Constituency in Nairobi County.
The incident happened when the pupils had reported to school a few minutes after 7am on Monday.
Government spokesperson Colonel Cyrus Oguna confirmed the incident he said 57 others who were injured were taken to Kenyatta National Referral Hospital.
“This is a private school but the government is going to ensure the injured pupils receive medical treatment,” said Oguna.
Oguna added that the government through Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha will issue a comprehensive statement on the incident.
The schools in storey building made of iron sheets and wood ,the top floor of the building was housing the junior primary pupils. Class 6, Class 7 and Class 8 learners were on the ground floor they were the most affected learners.
