Kilifi County Director of Education Veronica Kalunga Mwaka has revealed that the government is currently training 523 teachers to teach in Junior Secondary Schools (JSS).
Speaking during the official launch of a Science laboratory for JSS students at Kingsway Junior School in Malindi town recently, Mwaka said the training was done between 25-28 Apr, 2023.
She noted with confidence that the training will enable the teachers discharge their duties more efficiently and effectively.
Mwaka advised school BoMs to strictly comply with the Ministry of Education rules and regulations when constructing new classrooms so as to enable students to study under a healthy environment.
“The government won’t approve new construction plans which do not meet requirements,” she said, further calling on all education stakeholders to work as a team and equip institutions with the necessary learning facilities.
She also asked teachers to double their efforts so as to post good results in both KCPE and KCSE exams.
Mwaka commended Kingsway Junior School for its exemplary performance in 2022 KCPE and revealed that the school is the only private one in the county to construct a Science Laboratory for JSS students.
