Kilifi County is on high alert after 38 students at Marafa Secondary School tested positive for the Covid-19.
According to Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi, the 38 students and their teachers who also tested positive have been quarantined at the institution.
This comes a day after the county’s Covid-19 response committee chaired by Governor Amason Kingi and County Commissioner held a crisis meeting at the Governor’s office and announced new directives due to curb surging cases of the virus in the county.
Marafa, however, is not the first school to record positive cases of the virus as Majenjeni Primary and Secondary also reported positive cases.
Others include Kibokoni and Muyeye Secondary, there are fears that the virus could spread further if people will not adhere to the protocols issued by the Ministry of health.
Kilifi has been in the spot with rising new Covid-19 numbers since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic in the country.
The County recorded 244 new infections in the last three days.
