20 students begin Edumed Trust scholarship journey backed by NCBA’s community fund

Twenty students from diverse, resilience-shaped backgrounds have formally begun their academic and mentorship journey under the Edumed Trust scholarship programme, with the 2026 induction ceremony marking the start of what the trust describes as a structured path designed to carry scholars well beyond the classroom.

Edumed Trust, a Kenyan Christian charitable organisation, focuses on transforming lives by meeting the education and medical needs of students from poor families. Founded in 1996, the trust grants secondary education scholarships to high-performing students who lack the financial means to access school.

Beyond fees, Edumed Trust places structured mentorship at the centre of what it offers. Past beneficiaries have credited the mentorship component with preparing them for life after school in ways that financial support alone could not achieve.

The programme runs under a partnership with NCBA Bank, which serves as the primary funder. The bank has invested over Ksh 100 million in its scholarship programme since 2007, supporting students across primary, secondary and tertiary levels through several partner organisations, of which Edumed Trust is one. The programme covers tuition, textbooks, uniforms, and dormitory supplies, alongside mentorship aimed at equipping scholars with tools for leadership and community contribution.

In February 2026, NCBA committed over Ksh13 million to support 177 students through nine partner organisations as part of a broader pledge to spend Ksh 100 million annually on community programmes, with education and mentorship at the core.
