Varsity students decry wasted academic time as lecturers’ strike rages on

As the University Academic Staff Union (UASU) continues with its industrial action, students have expressed concern that they are losing a lot in academic work.

Speaking to Education News in Nakuru town, university students drawn from Baringo, Nandi and Kericho counties led by Emmanuel Baskwony, Chair of Baringo University Students Association, said that the students are in anxiety at the moment because there has been no communication regarding when they will resume learning.

Baskwony said students are unable to plan their studies and time well as the uncertainty has thrown them into confusion.

Kiprono, Secretary General, Kalenjin Students Association, said that for students of Kenyatta University, the examination timetable was out.

However, he noted that they have not covered sufficient syllabus to undertake exams.

“We have paid rent for the entire semester, but now we are only eating and doing nothing,” said Jerop, a student.
