The University of Eldoret (UOE) will be seeking to defend their netball crowns in both the men’s and women’s categories as the Kenya Universities Sports Federation (KUSF) ball games play‑offs begin Thursday at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA).

The four‑day championships, running from March 26 to March 29, will bring together the top two teams from each KUSF conference across the country. More than 1,500 student‑athletes are expected to compete in disciplines ranging from football, basketball, hockey, rugby sevens, volleyball, and netball, with rugby 15s introduced for the first time this year.

The championships will be staged across multiple venues. Hockey will be hosted by the University of Nairobi, basketball at Strathmore University, and netball at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Karen campus, while other events will take place at CUEA.

UOE head coach Stellar Kiptoo expressed confidence in her squad despite losing several key players to graduation. “At the nationals, we have to work extra hard after five of my first‑team players graduated, leaving only two. This will pose a challenge, but we are ready for it,” she said, noting strong competition from Nairobi and Western conferences.

KUSF Secretary General Joan Adalo underscored the competitiveness of this year’s play‑offs, stressing that all qualified teams will participate. However, defending football champions Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) will miss out, with the Western Conference instead represented by Kibabii University and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST).
