The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has dismissed as false a message circulating on social media claiming that schools are required to make financial contributions to facilitate teacher recruitment and promotion interviews.
In a clarification, the Commission said no fees are charged for any services provided to teachers, including recruitment and promotion exercises. TSC stated that recruitment and promotion are core functions of the Commission and are conducted in a transparent and accountable manner. According to the Commission, the exercises are fully funded by TSC, with County Directors provided with adequate resources to facilitate the activities.

The clarification comes as the Commission undertakes teacher recruitment and promotion activities across the country. TSC has consequently cautioned heads of public basic education institutions against participating in, supporting or entertaining unauthorised engagements seeking financial contributions for recruitment or promotion interviews.
TSC urged school heads and other education stakeholders to disregard the circulating message and rely on official communication from the Commission for information concerning teacher recruitment, promotion and other services. The warning is aimed at preventing schools and teachers from falling victim to fraudulent individuals seeking to exploit recruitment and promotion exercises for financial gain.
