Thousands of Kenyans who missed out on placement to medical, tourism and hospitality training programmes have been handed a fresh opportunity after the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) reopened applications for the September 2026 intake.
KUCCPS has reopened its online placement system for Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and Kenya Utalii College’s Ronald Ngala Campus in Kilifi, giving eligible Form Four leavers another chance to secure places before the new academic year begins. According to KUCCPS’s September 2026 bulletin, the application window will remain open until September 14, 2026, meaning prospective students have only a limited period to complete their applications.
The latest opportunity targets KCSE holders from 2000 to 2025 who meet the required grades and who missed placement during the earlier application exercise. KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Dr Agnes Mercy Wahome said applicants who missed placement during the first round can reapply for the available programmes before the September 14 deadline. The reopening is particularly significant for school leavers who have been unable to secure places in their preferred institutions and are still looking for pathways into professional and technical training.

KMTC Offers Dozens of Medical Training Opportunities
At KMTC, applicants can compete for available places in a wide range of medical and healthcare programmes. KUCCPS says 22 diploma and certificate programmes are available through the reopened placement window, including programmes in Clinical Medicine and Surgery, Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Pharmacy, Health Records and Information Technology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Physiotherapy, Nutrition and Dietetics, Public Health and other specialised health fields. The opportunity provides an alternative route for students who may not have secured university admission but still want to acquire professional qualifications in the health sector. KMTC remains one of Kenya’s major institutions for training healthcare workers, making the latest placement window particularly important for young people seeking careers in medicine and allied health professions.
New Kilifi Utalii Campus Opens Another Door
The reopened application window also covers Ronald Ngala Utalii College in Kilifi County, where applicants can pursue tourism and hospitality programmes. KUCCPS lists 13 diploma and certificate programmes at the Ronald Ngala campus, including Hospitality Management, Front Office Operations, Culinary Arts, Housekeeping and Laundry Management, Food and Beverage Management, Travel and Tourism Management, and Tour Guiding and Administration, among others. The Kilifi institution represents a major expansion of access to specialised tourism and hospitality training, particularly for young people living along the Coast. KUCCPS had earlier announced that the new campus was being prepared for its first intake, with the institution expected to expand opportunities for students interested in Kenya’s tourism and hospitality industry.

With the new application window now open, prospective students have been urged to carefully check the entry requirements for their preferred programmes before submitting their choices. Candidates should confirm their KCSE grades and subject requirements and select courses that match both their academic qualifications and career ambitions. KUCCPS has continued to provide career guidance and placement assistance through its offices and other support centres. Applicants who need help can visit Huduma Centres, KMTC campuses, Kenya Utalii College campuses in Nairobi and Kilifi, or KUCCPS offices at ACK Garden House on 1st Ngong Avenue in Nairobi. The placement service is also urging applicants to use the official KUCCPS student portal, accessible through students.kuccps.ac.ke, and avoid individuals or unofficial platforms claiming to offer admissions.
For thousands of Form Four leavers who missed the first opportunity, the reopened application window could be the chance to get back into the education system and begin professional training this year. However, the September 14, 2026 deadline means applicants should not wait until the final day to make their selections, as early application gives candidates time to verify their information, review available courses and address any problems encountered during the online application process.
