TSC transfers field directors few months after landing in new stations

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has transferred some of its senior field staff in what appears to be an attempt to take the officers close to their native homes.

It comes as a surprise that TSC is transferring some of these officers who were deployed to new stations less than three months ago.

In the latest changes effected by the teachers’ employer, Adow Bardad who has been the Rift Valley Regional Director (RD) swaps places with his Eastern counterpart, Alex Cheruiyot. It is important to note that the latter had barely lasted three months at his current station in Embu having been promoted to RD just recently.

Adow Bardad is now TSC Eastern Regional Director.

Cheruiyot had been the Makueni County Director before being elevated to the RD position.

TSC has also made changes on some of its County Directors with Hussein Abdi who has been in charge of Turkana going to Marsabit in similar capacity while Sammy Loitakol who has been the Marsabit boss moves in the opposite direction to head Turkana. Like Cheruiyot, the two County Directors have served for a short stint at their stations before the current transfers.

Alex Cheruiyot has been moved to Rift Valley as the new Regional Director

Education News has also learnt that Jane Mutua, the Narok County Director will be swapping places with her Kilifi County counterpart, Debson Megiri.

This is the third time this year that TSC is making changes on its field staff. In February and March this year, the Commission transferred several Regional Directors, County Directors, Deputy Directors and Sub-County Directors. In some cases, the transfers came with promotion to higher offices.

Speculations are rife that there could be more transfers on the way and this newspaper will be available to update you on the latest developments.
