- TSC said the registration exercise must be completed on or before 12th July 2026 to facilitate the Fund’s transition to a fully digital operating environment
- TSC warned that failure to update details will deny teachers access to retirement benefits.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has directed all teachers in public service to register on the Public Service Superannuation Scheme (PSSF) Member Self-Service Portal, warning that failure to update details will deny teachers access to retirement benefits.
In a circular dated 9th July, 2026 addressed to Regional, County and Sub-County Directors, TSC said the registration exercise must be completed on or before 12th July 2026 to facilitate the Fund’s transition to a fully digital operating environment.
The Public Service Superannuation Scheme Act, Cap. 189A was enacted to reform pension payments for government employees. Under the scheme, both the employee and employer make regular pension contributions throughout the teacher’s period of service.
The contributions are invested to build retirement savings to ensure a sustainable source of income after retirement.
The circular indicated that the scheme managed under the Public Service Superannuation Fund has a current membership of about 334,442 teachers, who form the majority of the Fund. However, TSC noted that only about 20,000 teachers have updated their details on the PSSF Member Self-Service Portal.

“This not only denies our teachers the opportunity to monitor their pension savings, but also causes delays in processing of benefits in the event of a teacher’s exit from service,” the circular stated.
It further added, “To improve service delivery, the Fund has rolled out the PSSF Member Self-Service Portal and App, which allows members to register and update personal details, access pension statements, monitor contribution status, submit and track requests, and receive timely notifications”.
The portal is accessible through: https://mss.pssf.go.ke/. All members are also required to nominate beneficiaries by completing Form PSSF-2 Beneficiary Nomination Form available on the PSSF website.
The commission urged all teachers who are members of PSSF to register through the portal and encouraged Regional, County and Sub-County Directors to ensure the contents of the circular are brought to the attention of all teachers under their jurisdiction.
