TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia. The commission has advertised a number of vacancies at JSS to start work in 2024.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is currently looking for qualified individuals to fill 1,098 internship positions in Junior Secondary School (JSS) for the year 2024.

Those who are interested and meet the necessary qualifications are encouraged to apply online through the Commission’s official website, www.tsc.go.ke, specifically under the “Careers” section or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke by December 15, 2023.

To be considered for a position, applicants must be citizens of Kenya and possess a minimum of a certificate in education with a mean grade of C+ (plus) and C+ (plus) in two KCSE teaching subjects, or an equivalent qualification. Additionally, they must be registered teachers with the TSC.

According to the circular from the commission, manual applications will not be taken into consideration this time.

“The Commission will strictly adhere to its recruiting guidelines for teacher interns at post-primary institutions for the fiscal years 2023-2024,” part of it reads.

According to the circular, candidates will be selected based on merit and the number of available positions in each county and the shortlisted candidates will be required to present their original academic and professional credentials.

However, individuals who have previously held permanent or pensionable positions with the TSC or have participated in the TSC internship programme are not eligible to apply. If there are announced openings, a candidate may submit an application to two institutions.

Furthermore, it is stated that successful candidates must only accept one Offer of Internship Engagement. Taking multiple offers will result in disqualification, as stated in the circular.

Lastly, successful applicants will be required to have Personal Accident Insurance to cover any personal risks that may arise during the internship period.
