The Trans Nzoia county school boys’ football finals were thrown into disarray after players from Goseta Boys invaded the pitch at Transcend Stadium in Cherangany, halting the much-anticipated final between national champions St. Joseph Boys High School and former East Africa champions St. Anthony Boys Kitale.
WATCH:
The final was scheduled to bring together two of Kenya’s football powerhouses, but the match failed to kick off as Goseta players and officials protested what they termed an unfair elimination from the tournament.
Goseta argues that they were denied an opportunity to compete in the semifinal against St. Anthony Boys after their opponents were awarded a walkover.
The school maintains that the semifinal fixture should be played before any county final can take place.

The protest prompted tournament organizers to suspend the final as stakeholders sought a solution to the standoff.
The dispute has sparked intense debate among schools, coaches and football fans across the county.
Reports indicate that the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Trans Nzoia County committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow to deliberate on the matter and determine the way forward.
An official statement is expected after the meeting, which will decide whether the disputed semifinal will be played, the final rescheduled or other measures taken.
The development has left players, coaches and supporters anxiously awaiting a verdict as the county’s football championship remain unresolved.
