A sombre mood has engulfed Koisagat Zone and the wider Soy sub-county in Uasin Gishu County following the tragic death of James Karonei, a teacher at Sitiyot Academy, who lost his life in a fatal road accident along the Mois Bridge–Tuigoin Road.

According to reports, the accident occurred on the busy stretch of road, cutting short the life of the young and dedicated educator whose commitment to teaching had earned him admiration from colleagues, learners, and members of the community.

Karonei was widely known for his passion for education and his unwavering dedication to nurturing young minds.

Through his work at Sitiyot Academy, he inspired countless students and played a significant role in shaping their academic and personal growth.

His untimely death has left a deep void in the school and the community, with many describing him as a hardworking, humble and selfless teacher who always put the interests of his learners first.

Leaders, teachers, parents and residents have continued to pay tribute to the fallen educator, remembering him as a beacon of hope and a mentor whose impact extended far beyond the classroom.

“The education fraternity has lost a committed teacher whose service touched many lives. His contribution to the development of learners will be remembered for years to come,” said one of his colleagues.

As family, friends, students and colleagues come to terms with the painful loss, messages of condolence continue to pour in from across the region.

Karonei leaves behind a legacy of dedication, service, and inspiration.

Though his life was cut short, the values he imparted and the lives he touched will remain a lasting testament to his work.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family.
