A tragic incident has hit Lodwar town, Turkana County, after a mathematics and business studies teacher and alumnus of Kenyatta University (KU) committed suicide after alleged aviator betting loss.
According to the preliminary reports, the teacher identified as Nahashon Kimtai, is said to have taken his own life using a rope after allegedly losing Ksh50,000 in an online betting game known as Aviator, a popular high-risk gambling platform.
The deceased who was working in a private school in Lodwar town at the time of his death, has been praised as a very dedicated educator who built his teaching career after graduating from Kenyatta University.
Kimtai who hails from Chepsiro/Kiptoror Ward in Cherang’any Constituency, Trans Nzoia County, has left his family and friends in shock taking his life.
His sudden death has shocked colleagues, students, and residents who described him as a calm and hardworking teacher.

The body was moved to the mortuary awaiting postmortem examination as family members begin burial arrangements.
