Tenwek High School in Bomet County has strongly dismissed claims circulating on social media that its students painted themselves in the colours of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party to entertain guests during the school’s 2026 Speech and Prize-Giving Day.

In an official statement released on Saturday, the school termed the reports as “erroneous and misleading,” specifically taking issue with a Facebook post published by Kenyans.co.ke at around 2 p.m. on July 18.

The institution clarified that the annual Speech and Prize-Giving Day, presided over by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, was a community event attended by invited guests as well as members of the public.

The school maintained that all students were dressed in their official school uniforms, except those participating in the school band.

“Kindly note that this was a community event, and everyone was allowed to attend, including gate crashers. We debunk this information strongly and assure our stakeholders that all our students were clad in their respective school uniforms, except those performing in the band,” the statement read.

The school further accused the publication of circulating false information that could damage its reputation and warned that it was considering legal action unless the contested post was withdrawn.

While expressing concern over what it described as irresponsible reporting, the administration said it remains committed to protecting the integrity of the institution and providing accurate information to parents, alumni and other stakeholders.
