- Actual earnings will depend on salary notch, allowances, statutory deductions and implementation by individual public sector employers.
The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) has released a revised public service salary structure outlining new basic and gross salary scales across the Common Salary Grade (CSG) framework, paving the way for salary adjustments for eligible public servants.
The revised structure provides updated salary bands from the highest grades in public service leadership to entry-level cadres. Employees who fall within these grades are expected to receive salaries based on the applicable salary notch and progression guidelines.
Under the new structure, officers in the E4/CSG3 grade will earn basic salaries ranging between KSh312,085 and KSh576,120, with total gross monthly earnings ranging from KSh602,000 to KSh866,720.
Those serving in the E3/CSG4 grade will receive basic salaries of between KSh202,080 and KSh400,040, translating to gross monthly earnings of KSh446,680 to KSh644,640.
For officers in the E3/CSG5 grade, the revised salary structure places basic pay between KSh164,600 and KSh320,140, while total gross earnings range from KSh244,600 to KSh400,140.
Employees in the D4/CSG6 grade will earn basic salaries of up to KSh202,080, with gross monthly earnings reaching KSh268,080, depending on their salary notch and years of service.
Mid-level public servants in the C5/CSG8 grade will receive basic salaries ranging from KSh63,870 to KSh105,150, while their gross monthly earnings will range from KSh106,870 to KSh148,150.
Meanwhile, officers in the C3/CSG9 grade will earn basic salaries between KSh49,910 and KSh73,050, with gross salaries ranging from KSh83,910 to KSh107,050.
For the C2/CSG10 grade, the revised structure provides basic salaries of between KSh45,210 and KSh61,020, while gross monthly earnings will range from KSh66,710 to KSh82,520.
Public servants in the C1/CSG11 grade will receive basic salaries of between KSh38,210 and KSh49,910, translating to gross monthly earnings of KSh52,210 to KSh63,910.
At the lower salary bands, officers in the B3/CSG14 grade will earn basic salaries ranging from KSh24,350 to KSh30,250, with gross salaries between KSh31,850 and KSh37,750.
Those serving under the B2/CSG15 grade will receive basic salaries of between KSh23,130 and KSh28,260, while their gross monthly earnings will range from KSh30,630 to KSh35,750.
The B1/CSG16 grade will attract basic salaries ranging from KSh22,040 to KSh26,510, with gross monthly earnings of between KSh29,165 and KSh33,635.
At the entry level, officers in the A3/CSG17 grade will receive basic salaries ranging from KSh20,640 to KSh23,710, while gross salaries will range from KSh27,390 to KSh30,460.
Implementation
The revised salary structure is expected to guide remuneration across the public service. However, the actual amount received by individual employees will depend on their job group, salary notch, applicable allowances, statutory deductions and the implementation schedule adopted by their respective employers.
Public servants have welcomed the publication of the revised salary scales, with many expressing optimism that the adjustments will help cushion them against the rising cost of living.

Others, however, continue to call for regular salary reviews, timely implementation of collective bargaining agreements and improved allowances to enhance the welfare and purchasing power of government employees.
