The Technical University of Kenya has rescheduled examinations that were set for today after the ongoing nationwide transport strike and widespread road barricades disrupted movement in several parts of the country.
The university said the decision was reached after students and staff faced difficulties accessing the institution due to protests linked to rising fuel prices.
Major roads in Nairobi and other towns were blocked by demonstrators, causing transport paralysis and forcing many learning institutions and businesses to suspend operations.
In Nairobi, sections of Thika Superhighway, Jogoo Road, Waiyaki Way and Mombasa Road were barricaded with stones, burning tyres and debris as protesters demanded government intervention on the high cost of fuel and transport.

Similar disruptions were reported in Kitengela, Machakos, Kiambu, Nakuru and Kisumu, where roads remained impassable for hours.
Matatu operators, boda boda riders and truck drivers joined the demonstrations, leaving thousands of commuters stranded. The protests also affected students traveling from different counties to sit for examinations at TUK.
The university management said new examination dates will be communicated through official channels once the situation stabilizes. The institution urged students to remain calm and prioritize their safety amid the ongoing unrest being witnessed across major towns in the country.
