- Kenya’s school teams have been flagged off for the 2026 FEASSSA Games in Morogoro, Tanzania.
- The national contingent heads to the regional championships after qualifying through the KSSSA national competitions.

The official flagging-off ceremony is being held at the Mwai Kibaki Amphitheatre at Mang’u High School, as the country prepares to battle regional rivals at the 23rd edition of the championships.
The games will run from August 12 to 23, bringing together secondary school athletes from across East Africa.
Kenya’s delegation is expected to compete in a wide range of sporting disciplines, with the country aiming to maintain its strong record at the regional championships.
Teams earn regional tickets
The Kenyan contingent comprises teams that qualified through the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term Two national championships held recently.
Among the teams heading to Tanzania are football sides, athletics, basketball, volleyball, hockey and other disciplines that earned the right to represent the country at the regional level.
Kenya will have an expanded presence in football after FEASSSA approved additional slots, with the country set to field four boys’ and four girls’ teams in the discipline.
The athletics team alone comprises 71 athletes selected from the national championships, underlining Kenya’s depth in track and field.
Regional rivals await in Morogoro
The Kenyan teams will face strong opposition from hosts Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi, with the championships providing a platform for young players to test themselves against some of the best school talent in the region.
The games are also expected to offer an important pathway for talented students seeking to progress into elite sport, while strengthening sporting ties among East African countries.
Kenya will be hoping its representatives can translate their impressive performances at the national championships into regional success when competition gets underway in Morogoro.
