Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Bungoma East branch has accused Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu for issuing false promises to schools.
Speaking in Webuye, the branch Executive Secretary Aggrey Namisi castigated the CS for not keeping his word regarding disbursement of capitation funds to schools.
“A spot check by the union shows that most students are at home due to failure by the Ministry to release money meant for free secondary school education,” said Namisi.
The unionist added that schools are going through harrowing moments as most school heads are finding it difficult to run school affairs.
In a related development, Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has transferred St. Patrick Naitiri Boys High School Chief Principal Stephen Akuto to Chewoyet National school in West pokot county.
Chewoyet National school Chief Principal Samuel Barasa takes over Bungoma-based extra county St. Patrick Naitiri Boys High school in the same capacity. Barasa, an experienced teacher is set to turn Naitiri Boys High School into a centre of academic excellence.
