Teachers at Matungulu Girls high school in Machakos county have introduced extra contact hours for their form four students as they prepare to sit for their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams which will be done in March 2022.
The school’s dean of studies Ms Jane Maundu said they completed the syllabus at the beginning of the term and have now embarked on intensive revision and group discussion with students.
‘The teachers are engaging the candidates after the normal 8am – 5pm study hours with a view of preparing them adequately for the examinations. Our students are very ready for the exams. We are doing intensive revision,’ said Ms Maundu.
This year will mark the second year of KCSE exams being done in March following the disruption of the normal school calendar by the Covid-19 pandemic which saw schools being closed for nine months in 2020.
