Kinyui Boys High School in Machakos County is mourning the death of Dennis Matheka, a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate, whose passing has left the school community in deep sorrow.
His death comes as candidates across the country sit the 2026 national examinations, cutting short his hopes of completing secondary school and starting the next chapter of his life.

In a tribute, the school described the loss as painful for students, teachers and the wider school community.

"Our eyes are clouded with tears. A piece of us has deserted us. Our hearts are bleeding with pain, but in the Lord we surrender all," the school said.

The circumstances of his death were not given in the school's tribute.
