- Musingu Boys have beaten Uganda’s Gombe Secondary School 29-18 in boys’ handball, while Kenyan teams have recorded mixed results in netball and basketball.
St Joseph’s Girls School Kitale produced one of Kenya’s most impressive performances on Day Four of the 2026 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games in Morogoro, Tanzania, after crushing hosts Kilombero Secondary School 5-0 in girls’ football.
The emphatic victory highlighted the Kenyan side’s attacking strength as the regional championships entered a crucial stage.
St Joseph’s controlled proceedings and punished Kilombero with a clinical display to register a convincing victory against the Tanzanian representatives.
Kenya also enjoyed success in boys’ handball, with Musingu Boys securing a 29-18 victory over Uganda’s Gombe Secondary School. The result strengthened Kenya’s challenge in the handball competition, with Musingu demonstrating their quality and resilience against their Ugandan opponents.
There were mixed fortunes for Kenyan teams in netball. Andersen Mixed Senior School suffered a 51-35 defeat against Uganda’s St Noa Girls School in a high-scoring encounter.
The Ugandan side maintained control for much of the contest to secure a comfortable victory.

Basketball also provided contrasting results as Friends School Kamusinga narrowly lost 79-75 to Uganda’s Amus College in the boys’ 5-on-5 competition after a closely fought contest; in the girls’ competition, Rwanda’s ESB Kamonyi defeated Uganda’s Nabisunsa 80-58.
The results underline the increasingly competitive nature of the regional championships, which have brought together talented secondary school athletes from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.
Kenya will be hoping for more positive results as the competition enters its decisive stages, with teams targeting qualification for the knockout rounds and ultimately the regional titles.

The 2026 FEASSA Games are being held in Morogoro from August 14 to 22, providing a major platform for East Africa’s emerging school sports talent.
