Sironga Girls’ High School in Nyamira County was closed on Friday and remains shut indefinitely, adding to the wave of school disruptions in the region.
The decision was communicated to parents and guardians on Saturday, with the school administration citing unrest among students as the reason. Students were directed to leave for home immediately, and parents rushed to pick them up.

Details on what triggered the closure remain limited, but sources at the school say tension had been building over the week.
No injuries have been reported so far.
Efforts by Education News to reach Chief Principal Jane Nyanumba and the Board of Management chairman were unsuccessful.
