A secondary school teacher collapsed and died while having tea with his colleagues in Machakos County recently.
Kangundo Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) executive secretary, Daniel Nginga said the deceased; Bernard Anyango was a teacher at Kathithyamaa Secondary School and taught English and Literature. He was also the drama patron.
“He complained of a serious headache before collapsing he said adding he was pronounced dead on arrival at Kangundo Level 4 Hospital where he had been rushed to.
Nginga urged the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to ensure schools are adequately staffed to ensure teachers are not overworked.
“We also expect TSC to replace the deceased teacher immediately to ensure learning continues smoothly,” he said.
