Area MP Christopher Aseka operates a hydraulic excavator to officially break ground for the Sh150 million, 340-bed hostel project at Khwisero Technical and Vocational College.

The groundbreaking for the 340-bed capacity at Khwisero Technical and Vocational College hostels was undertaken, presided over by area MP Christopher Aseka.

The launch of the hostels project in the vocational college, established by President William Ruto, will cost Sh150 million.

The project will assist in housing students and also reduce the cost of renting outside the institution, which is very expensive.

“Apart from hosting students, the project will also improve livelihoods among youth in the community,” noted the MP as the project takes 1 year to be completed.

He underscored the project’s significance in creating jobs for youth, including masons, welders, and plumbers.

At the same time, the lawmaker emphasised that Grade 9 learners who sat for KJSEA exams will know their fate in the senior schools they selected based on their performance.

As learning resumes in January, the MP cautioned members of the public against spreading propaganda by a section of politicians following the scrapping of capitation funds in secondary schools.

Aseka, who served on the budget committee in the National Assembly from 2017 to 2022, refuted claims about the scrapping of capitation funds and assured parents that the treasury has sufficient funds to boost education.

Aseka highlighted that CS Mbadi has issued CDF funds, with 45 per cent prioritised for bursary allocation for needy students.
