Saseta Girls’ Secondary School in Konoin Sub-County, Bomet County, has been closed indefinitely following security concerns arising from an alleged student strike.

The school administration made the decision to release students on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m. as a precautionary measure aimed at protecting learners and staff and preventing any further escalation of the situation.

According to information shared with parents and guardians, the closure was prompted by concerns over student unrest within the institution. School management opted to send students home to allow authorities and education stakeholders sufficient time to assess the situation and restore normalcy before learning resumes.

Parents were informed of the development through the school’s official WhatsApp communication platforms and advised to make the necessary arrangements to ensure their children returned home safely.

Many parents reportedly moved swiftly to pick up their daughters after receiving the notification.

The indefinite closure comes amid growing concern over incidents of unrest being reported in several learning institutions across the country.

Guidance and counselling

Education officials have consistently urged schools to strengthen guidance and counselling programmes while promoting dialogue between students and administrators to address emerging grievances before they escalate.

At Saseta Girls, education authorities, school administrators, and other relevant stakeholders are expected to conduct a comprehensive assessment to establish the circumstances that led to the unrest and recommend appropriate interventions.

The reopening date has not yet been announced.
