- Rongo University has begun admitting 4,377 KUCCPS-selected students for the 2026/27 academic year.
- University officials say support programmes and lecture timetables are ready for the new students.
- First-years have also been urged to seek assistance only from properly identified university staff.
“I am so happy to see him admitted at Rongo University, and I am sure my son will really do well in his studies. I am very optimistic,” said Juliet Hilado alongside her son, who had just completed the admission process and been granted entry into the university.
“I’m excited because he was selected to come here. All is good, and I love the environment very much,” she added.
Her son, Felati Brenton, was among the 4,377 KUCCPS-selected students who reported for admission on Monday, August 24, when the students began checking in at Rongo University.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Student Affairs), Professor Michael Ntabo Mabururu, urged the newly admitted students to be cautious and remain focused as they begin university life.
Professor Mabururu confirmed that the university had rolled out a support programme for first-year students, with timetables prepared for lectures set to commence the following week.
He insisted that timetables should be viewed as an important part of classroom-based learning.
New students were advised to seek directions and clarification only from members of staff wearing tags and proper identification to curb cases of fraud.
He further stressed that the university had put measures in place to prevent students and parents from being conned during the two admission days by people posing as staff members or registered Rongo University students.
Student leaders welcome first-years
Rongo University Students Association (RUSA) President Derek Otieno Ogola confirmed that adequate arrangements had been put in place to ensure that new students and their parents received the necessary assistance during the admission process.
“I take this opportunity to welcome all first-year students and commend them for this milestone of joining Rongo University,” said Ogola.
“I had a great time interacting with the Rongo University staff, who were very helpful,” said Trizzah Omwandi, a newly admitted first-year Bachelor of Arts in Tourism and Hospitality Management student.

The Dean of Students, Ben Asugo, encouraged students to embrace extracurricular activities as part of campus life, saying they would help them build networks, develop new skills and broaden their opportunities both within and beyond the university.
