The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Narok Woman Representative Ann Saramei has expressed confidence of retaining her seat in today’s branch elections despite mourning the loss of her husband, Kennedy Osiemo, a respected retired teacher of Ngiito Primary School.

The polls are being held at William ole Ntimama Stadium, drawing delegates from across the county to elect new branch officials.

Saramei is currently grieving following the passing of her husband, whose funeral is scheduled for later this week.

KNUT officials, KEPSHA representatives and local leaders have been visiting her home in Olala village to offer condolences and stand with her during the difficult period.

Despite the personal loss, Saramei has remained steadfast in her campaign, saying her bid is driven by the desire to consolidate the gains made during her tenure and to continue championing the welfare of women teachers across Narok County.

She is facing competition from Ann Bor in what is expected to be a closely watched contest.

As voting gets underway, Saramei is expected to continue engaging delegates, outlining her agenda and seeking their renewed mandate.

Her resilience in the face of personal loss has drawn admiration from colleagues, with many describing her as a committed and courageous leader determined to serve.
