The leadership vacuum at Ramba Boys High School has finally been sealed after Dr. Patrick Odhiambo took over as the school’s Chief Principal.
Dr. Odhiambo takes over as the principal, when school is still under scruitny following a recent tragedy that claimed the lives of two students who fell into an open septic tank. The incident triggered student unrest and exposed serious safety gaps at the institution that led the transfer of Wycliffe Manoah to a school in Vihiga County.
The leadership change marks a new chapter for the school, which has been under scrutiny from the public and education stakeholders in the wake of the accident. Dr. Odhiambo’s arrival is seen as a move to stabilize the school and initiate urgent reforms.
Previously heading Magunga Secondary School in Kisumu County, Dr. Odhiambo is widely credited for transforming the institution into a national academic contender. In the 2024 KCSE examinations, Magunga posted a mean score of 7.2, with 269 students earning direct admission to public universities.
At Ramba Boys, Dr. Odhiambo is expected to lead an aggressive campaign to improve infrastructure and student safety. Planned measures include a full audit of sanitation facilities, sealing of all exposed septic systems, and upgrades to drainage and hygiene structures.

He is also intends to roll out new programs aimed at student welfare and discipline. These include the reintroduction of structured guidance and counseling services, designed to help learners cope with recent trauma and reinforce behavioral standards.
Academically, Dr. Odhiambo will implement a student performance monitoring system and foster a results-driven culture among staff and learners. His strategy also involves mentorship initiatives and regular academic evaluations to boost classroom outcomes.
The new principal is placing a strong focus on stakeholder engagement. Plans are in place to strengthen collaboration with parents, teachers, alumni, and the school’s board in a push for transparency and shared responsibility.
Dr. Odhiambo takes over with immediate effect, stepping into a role that carries high expectations and an urgent need for change.
