Nambale Boys High School has finally secured a substantive principal after weeks of uncertainty. Fredrick Opiyo from St Joseph Kocholia Secondary School in Teso North will officially take over the leadership mantle.
The school had been under the stewardship of acting principal Dickens Wasonga for two weeks following the transfer of former senior principal Tom Amad to Magunga Secondary School in Kisumu County.
Opiyo’s appointment ends a leadership impasse that saw two senior principals reject transfers to the school, citing internal conflicts.
Wycliffe Manoah, the former principal of Ramba Boys High School, was first posted to Nambale Boys but declined the role, opting instead to take up a position at Vigina Secondary School in Vihiga County.
Similarly, Didimo Mukate from Bukhalalire Secondary School also refused the posting to Nambale Boys, further deepening the leadership vacuum.

Sources within the education sector revealed that internal feuds and resistance from some quarters within the school community contributed to the reluctance of previous appointees to take up the position.
With Opiyo now at the helm, stakeholders hope stability and academic focus will return to the institution. His leadership is expected to steer the school forward after a turbulent transition.
