PS commends MasterCard Foundation for supporting TVET sector

Principal Secretary (PS), State Department for Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Esther Muoria has commended MasterCard Foundation for supporting the TVET sector through State Department for TVET.

The PS who held a meeting with MasterCard Foundation officials in her office on Tuesday said the foundation has been supporting the sector since the year 2020.

He said the MasterCard Foundation has played a critical role in supporting the Government’s agenda in ensuring that the youth acquire technical skills through various projects implemented by the Young Africa Works TVET Program.

The project has equipped 17 TVET institutions with the state of the art equipment, helped to establish unique training courses at the Taita Taveta National Polytechnic and at the Mawego National Polytechnic.

It has also supported policy development at the state Department and supported the retooling of TVET trainers in pedagogy delivery.

The PS reiterated that the foundation support has been instrumental in advancing the Governments skilling agenda for this country.

Muoria called on the foundation to keep supporting the department of TVET sectors to achieve its skilling mandate.

The Mastercard Foundation is an international non-governmental organization established by Mastercard in 2006. The Foundation works with visionary organizations to empower young people in Africa and Indigenous youth in Canada to access meaningful, dignified, and fulfilling work.
