Principals warned against giving out Form One slots

By Allan Kibet

Secondary school principals have been warned against issuing Form One slots that belong to students who did not report to school in the stipulated reporting day.

Permanent Secretary for Basic Education in the Ministry of Education, Dr. Julius Jwan, in a circular dated May 5, asked principals not to replace the lots unless CS Magoha says otherwise.

“Due to 100 per cent transition, schools should not replace student’s slots who fail to turn up until the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Education declares the exercise is over,” read the circular in part.

Schools, the PS said, should maintain slots for beneficiaries of Elimu and other government scholarships.

Jwan said that the process will continue untill 100 percent transition is achieved across the country.

Yesterday, when Education CS was on an inspection tour of Form One reporting to schools in Nyeri, he gave an ultimatum of May 10 to allow students to report by the said date.
