Police stations cannot end student unrest, says don

By Tony Wafula

A university lecturer has dismissed the proposal to establish police stations in schools to check student riots.

Dr. Leonidah Makila, lecturer at Kibabii University who is also a counselor, said that instead, the root causes of unrest in schools should be addressed.

Makila mentioned failure of parenting, drug abuse and incitement as some of the causes of riots.

”I blame parents for failing to give proper guidance to their children,” she said.

She also called for a close collaboration between parents, the school management and teachers in moulding the character of learners.
