The Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has called on local universities to now pursue skills based courses instead of concentrating on theories alone to produce problem solving graduates.
Speaking at his office when he met a delegation from the African Talent University, Ogamba said universities should not revolve around lectures and examinations alone but rather embrace reassert and enterprise courses.
The CS added that as the state implements the Competency Based Education, universities must be ready to shift and embrace every student with diverse talents.
“Universities have produced a large number of graduates who only describe problems, but have little knowledge on how to solve them.” Ogamba said

He said there must now be a paradigm shift towards problem solving and no mere problem descriptions, noting that many Kenyans are good in shifting goal posts.
He advised the African Talent University (TAU) to produce graduates who can solve problems and job creators.
The founder of TAU Humphrey Obora, echoing Ogamba’s sentiments said talents of all types should be nurtured, adding that children should not be judged based on mere grades.
He said that TAU will be talent based given the changing trends in the country.
