Prof Philip Tito Okoth Raburu of the University of Eldoret will be laid to rest on Saturday, October 10, at his ancestral home in Koyuga Village, Rabuor, Kisumu County.
The funeral programme shows that the final journey of the 66-year-old professor will begin on Friday, October 9, when the cortege leaves Eldoret Hospital Mortuary at 7am. The body will be taken to ACK St Matthew's Cathedral, Eldoret, where a requiem service will be held before the cortege proceeds to Kisumu County.
A second service will be held at ACK St Paul's Migingo on Saturday morning, followed by the main funeral service at Migingo Primary School from 8 am. The body will then be taken to the family home in Koyuga Village for burial.
Prof Raburu, who was born on December 1, 1959, died on September 28, 2026, aged 66. He was married to Dr Elizabeth Awuor Raburu, also of the University of Eldoret, and was the father of Jessica, Eugene, Steve and JoyFaith. He also leaves behind five grandchildren — Tehillah, Yadah, Eliana, Azriel and Alice.
His death has brought together family, friends, colleagues and associates from Eldoret and Kisumu, who have been meeting at the family's Kimumu home in Eldoret and the Koyuga residence to prepare for his final send-off.
A fundraising event was held on Tuesday, October 6, at ACK St Matthew's Cathedral in Eldoret from 3 pm, alongside another gathering at the Koyuga residence from 2 pm.
